Serving Leads to Sharing
Because of our association's interest in starting a Hispanic work, I asked Sam Caballero to come up from Denver to prayer walk North Brook Villas in Montrose and to advise me of ways to begin a Hispanic work. We spent about an hour passing out Find It Here flyers and praying for the community. A man in a golf cart came racing up to me, "You are not allowed to pass out flyers in this park!" Of course I apologized. He told me that I could go to the office and leave our information there for the people to pick up if they wanted to have it.
I went to the office and apologized again and mentioned that I was with Celebration Church and Rosemont Church. The manager at the office said, "You mean Rosemont Baptist Church? Is Kim Bearden the pastor there?" I am thinking, "what did Kim do now? I hope I am not going to hear about, those baptist!!!"
She said, "Rosemont Baptist Church fixed up our community center and they can do anything they want in this park." She said to me, "Go out there and pass out those flyers, just make sure they don't fly around in the wind."
That afternoon we led a man to Christ and got to speak to many people about the Lord. North Brook Villas staff offered the Community Center for us to use for Bible Study.
The message? We serve so we can share. Thanks Rosemont Baptist Church for the example!
