My family loves Colorado. I mean, who wouldn’t love this place? The weather is incredible and there are so many things for families to do and I am so grateful that God has allowed us to serve alongside of you.

One of our favorite activities to do as a family is to go hiking. There is just something about climbing up a mountain that makes you appreciate the handiwork of our God! My family loves these day adventures and always looks forward to the next one.  When hiking, the goal for us is to get as high as we can. It is at the height of the journey that we are best able to see the beauty of the mountain peaks.

While the top of the mountain is the destination of the journey for our hike, it is there we are able to reflect on the vastness of God’s creation.  In a similar way, for all of us, the Holiday season and the New Years season serves as the top of the mountain for our year. It is in these seasons that God draws us to reflect on His handiwork in our own lives. We are able to look back and reflect upon all that God has done through us as well as look to the future of what God wants to do in us. In this Holiday season, I would like to suggest three simple ways to reflect on all that God has done in your life.

  • God’s Goodness- We should utilize this season to look back and see how good God has been to us. My family and I are so grateful for God’s goodness to move us to Colorado to serve you. When we reflect upon 2017, we will always be able to see God’s hand moving in our lives to get us exactly where he wants us. God has been good to you, take time this season to reflect and write out the various ways he has blessed you.

  • God’s Grace- If you’re anything like me, you realize that part of God’s goodness His grace in your life. As I reflect upon 2017, I can see God’s grace walking closely with me. There are areas in my life that I feel I am making progress. Yet, there are even more areas that I daily need God’s grace to surround me. God’s grace is not based upon our merit or who we are. It is simply based upon the fact that he loves us. I encourage you to reflect upon the amazing grace that our Lord has bestowed upon you this year.

  • God’s Guidance- As you reflect on 2017, identify the areas in which you see God’s hand clearly guiding you. They say hindsight is 20/20. I always see God’s guidance in my life when I reflect upon situations. God is good to us and his grace helps us in times of need. However, God’s guidance in our lives gets us from where we are to where we need to be. I encourage you, as you reflect, to also begin looking to 2018 and asking God for his guidance as you move forward.

God’s goodness, grace, and guidance has been evident for the CBGC. We are constantly able to see God moving across our state. It is a joy to stop and reflect upon this as we close out our year and move into the future.

One way that I would like to highlight God’s blessings upon the CBGC is through the service of Ginger LeBlanc. Ginger has served the CBGC faithfully for twenty-one years. On Dec 31,2017,  Ginger will enter the new chapter of life known as ‘retirement.’ I would like to thank her for serving the churches of the CBGC so well. I encourage you to pray for her as she moves into this new adventure.

As you reach the end or the peak of 2017, may I suggest you take a moment to reflect upon God’s goodness, grace, and guidance in your life.  He is a great God who has great plans for our convention. Let us be ever mindful of all he is doing in us and through us. I love you and believe in you!
