Colorado Baptist Disaster Relief (CBDR) is Christian love in action. It is meeting the urgent needs of hurting humanity in crisis situations with loving care and a timely response as James 2:15-16 instructs us to do.

Our Objective:  To serve others in the name of Jesus Christ in times of disaster.

Our Ministry:
The Colorado Baptist Disaster Relief Ministry is comprised of approximately 450 volunteers from all over the state who are committed to sharing the hope of Jesus with those whose lives have been impacted by disasters.

  • Our specialized areas of ministry include: chainsaw, flood recovery/mud out, ash out, food preparation, chaplaincy, shower unit, and communication unit.

    Ongoing recovery efforts along the Colorado Front Range will begin again on April 12. Many homes affected by the floods are still in need of mud-out and debris removal. We will keep you informed of the recovery plans.



  • What do I need to bring to the training?

    Please bring the following to the DR training:

    • Picture ID (ie. Colorado Drivers License, passport etc.)
    • proof of online payment OR check/cash (Note: we can NOT accept credit cards at training)
    •  completed and signed Registration Packet.  
    • notepad and pen (optional)
    • If planning to do Chainsaw training (only at trainings where offered) must wear steel toed shoes.
    • Disaster Relief Chaplaincy Training - July 11-12, 2014

      Chaplaincy is a specialized ministry in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.

       Trained chaplains minister to the spiritual and emotional needs of people in disaster.

      You will find the practical skills acquired through this training

      will open doors of ministry to people in crisis whether

      it be in a disaster response, in your church or in your  community.

  • What can I expect from the DR training?

    You’ll arrive and then sign-in at the Registration table and pick up your training booklet. Once checked-in you will be asked to take a photo (for your DR id badge). The sample schedule is below (this is subject to change):

  • Can I be a DR volunteer?

    DR Certification Requirements:
    All DR Volunteers MUST be an active member of a Colorado Southern Baptist Church, a Colorado resident, 18 years or older, and must provide a Colorado picture ID (ie. Colorado driver’s license).

    To be deployed, a DR volunteer must, within the last 3 years, have passed a background check, completed the Introduction to SBDR Class and at least one Unit Training . You will also be required to show proof of health insurance at the time of deployment.

  • How do I register for a training?

    Options to Register:  

    •  Register online (whether paying by credit card or pay at the door)
    • AND download the registration form and bring with you to registration table.  
    • OR come & register at the Friday night training

    Note: We highly recommend preregistering & having your registration form completed when you come to the registration table. We cannot accept credit card payment on the day of event, only cash or check.

  • What does it cost to be a DR volunteer?

    Initial Training Cost

    • $16- Background Check (required every 3 years) (no charge IF you provide a copy of a background check less than 6 months old)
    • $30 – Introduction to DR Class & at up to 2 additional Units

    Continuing Education and Keeping up Credentials

    • $15- For up to 2 additional Training Units per Training Event
    • $46- Every three years (to renew background check and Introduction to SBDR Class & up to 2 Units)

    Please also consider that once deployed, DR volunteers are expected to cover all travel, lodging and food cost for themselves while serving in a disaster area. Also, you must show proof of health insurance.
