LifeSkills for Congregations

LifeSkills for Congregations is a resource developed by the Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy Department, which was designed to help communicate needs to churches and to ministers regarding potentially challenging areas for each.  It was designed around five themes.  The key themes and some of the chapter headings are included below:

  • The Call (Understanding a Biblical Call, Spiritual Gifts, and Minister Search Committees).
  • The Culture and Customs of the Congregation (Congregational Life Cycles, Qualities of Healthy and Unhealthy congregations, Ministers’ Compensation, Suggested Policies and Guidelines for Congregations).
  • Caring for The Minister and The Minister’s Family (Pastor’s Church-Relations Team, Annual Evaluations, Minister’s Health, and Caring for the Minister’s Family).
  • Conflict and Change in the Congregation
  • Completion of Ministry and/or Closure (When is it to time to leave a church?  When it is appropriate to request a minister resign?  When is it appropriate for a church member to leave the church?)

This resource is available from the Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy Department for a cost of $25.00.  To order a copy please send a check payable to:  Colorado Baptist Convention, 7393 S. Alton Way, Centennial, CO 80112  ATTN: Dallas E. Speight.
