One Heart Change Leads to Another

By Andrew VanGorder,

Colorado Springs-This story is about Drew who came to Breathe Worship Center about two months ago.  When Drew came to church the first time, he was very open and showed a desire for wanting to learn more about our faith.  I gave the sermon and noticed many times that Drew was nodding his head in agreement.  While I didn’t know it yet, the Lord was working mighty things inside of Drew’s heart.

The second time Drew came to Breathe, he listened intently, and perked up noticeably when I gave an invitation to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  As I stood at the front waiting for anyone to respond, Drew did.  He came to the front of the room and told me that the week prior was his first week at any church…..ever.  He said “This is my second week at church in my entire life and I know that I want to give my life to Christ.” Read more

So they went to every village, preaching the Gospel and healing people everywhere” (Luke 9:6).

Denver- We at the Shuffle In Biker Church find ourselves in a unique position as to what we call outreach.  We go from club house to club house preaching the Gospel to every club that will have us.  We have been called to take the gospel to the lost and fallen souls of the motorcycle world.

We are a strong group of men and women, who have put our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and through this faith, we are moving on with the mission He has called us to. And if you listen, He is calling on you to partner up with us.

Church180: Missional 24/7

By Bryan Lark

Montrose- Though it hasn’t been easy and we’ve had many challenges, things have been going well for CHURCH180 lately. Over the last month, things have really been busy with ministry and church life.

A mission team of 10 people from Gateway Baptist Church in Atoka, Tenn., came to serve with us from March 23-29. This team really had great servant hearts and really flexible spirits.

During their time, we did some neighborhood blitzes and handed out $4 gift cards for the Looney Bean Coffee House (we have developed a partnership with the coffee house). We also handed out an informational invitation to a bowling outreach and our Easter service which was our official launch day for weekly services. Read more

The Flock that Rocks- Ryan Heller and The Edge Church

Dave Evans, the innovative U2 guitarist, is more commonly known by his stage name, The Edge. It’s said that one of the inspirations for the nickname was that he stays in the background at the edge of things. When Ryan Heller chose The Edge for the name of his 2009 church plant in the Southlands area of South East Denver, it wasn’t for the church to stay in the background. Heller said,

“We wanted a name that represented the vision and values of the church with the people God was calling us to reach. We wanted to reach people who were on the edge of faith, on the edge of divorce, on the edge of addiction or on the edge of whatever it may be.” Read more

The Bridge Church in Littleton

The simplicity of the service and life-relevant messages along with great hospitality is what draws families to The Bridge Church in Littleton, according to Pastor Chris Little.

Four weeks before the church plant officially launched on February 12, 2012, the staff was holding “preview” services to perfect the flow of the worship service.

“I was able to visit the Bridge during a 'practice' Sunday,” said Mark Edlund, Executive Director of the Colorado Baptist General Convention.

“From the time I left my car until I was seated in the worship service, I was escorted and generously welcomed,” Edlund recollects.  “The worship and message were excellent.  After the service, I was welcomed by several people including Chris. Another member walked me to the door and said thanks for worshipping with us.  I left knowing that my presence was significant and I was more than welcome to become a part of the Bridge community.” Read more

Kingdom Minded People

By Brad Cowger

Olathe—We have all seen examples of kingdom minded people: a missionary that gives his whole life to a remote village; a healthy church who gives up their members and resources to plant a new church; a woman who volunteers in a soup kitchen so that she can share the love of Christ. These are all great examples of kingdom-minded people. I would like to share one more. Read more

Community Baptist Fellowship in Olathe had a sweet fellowship and a nice building, but an aging congregation. Most of the fellowship actually came from outside of Olathe and did not live in the community. They were a loving, supportive, but dwindling fellowship.

After losing their pastor, they realized their small church family had a median age of 70 and their community’s median age was 35—younger than the national average.

Former Denver Bronco Turns Church Planter

Denver- Former Bronco running back and author, KaRon Coleman followed God’s calling to leave his home in Missouri City, Texas to come back out to the Front Range to plant a church. Coleman’s years of pastoral obedience has culminated into the planting of Northeast Fellowship Church. The church hosted their grand opening at Archuleta Elementary School starting on January 8, 2012.

After doing extensive research, Coleman found that Denver was an “under-churched” city. Statistics show that only 8 percent of Denver residents are connected to an evangelical church. In response to this statistic, Coleman said, “Everyone deserves to hear about God’s love.”  Coleman said the church planting was just the beginning of the wonderful blessings he has experienced as a “man of the Word” and intends to share with Northeast Denver’s evangelical community.

A Cause for Celebration

Chip Martin, pastor of Celebration Church in Montrose, had the privilege of baptizing 10 people on Sunday, March 27. Chip, for some years now, has been burdened for his congregation to experience geniune discipleship. He admits that his efforts were probably in haste at the time, but is trully blessed to have had 10 people make decisions for Christ with the real desire to follow Him completely.

Several months ago, Chip started challenging his folks to "count the cost" and be sure they understood salvation and what it meant to be a disciple. Read more

BOULDER COUNTY, COLORADO - It all started with an coffee-shop conversation between Scott Kelly, a Colorado Baptist church planter, and Jason, a medical marijuana patient who also publishes Cannabis Health News Magazine. Frontline Church Planting Center

ShareThis

Many years ago Kelly Williams, Senior Pastor of Vanguard in Colorado Springs, dreamed of starting a church planting multiplication center to train future planters. As God has advanced that dream he has swept a spirit of partnership all over the state to help make this vision a reality. We know that church planting is ALWAYS hard, but how much more equipped could planters be to birth a healthy church if they were trained in an indigenous residency here in Colorado? We hear church planters dying for this, and it is now time to act.

In September we will train our first track of church planters and their families! For 11 1/2 months they will get ministry experience, in depth coaching & formal learning en route to planting the church God has birthed in their hearts. Most will plant on the Front Range but some will be sent all over the country and the world! All leaders are invited to participate in our monthly Cultivate learning track for missiology, ecclesiology, leadership & servanthood topics starting in September. Read more

Soma Church of Denver...A New Church Plant

ShareThis

The Soma Church team planned for over two years before actually moving to Denver. In total, they anticipate a team of 27 people who have either moved to Denver already or plan to move here over the next few months. This team is coming from Raleigh, NC where they were trained and coached by Summit Church.

Bryan Barley and Andy Metzger are leading this new church plant in the Five Points/ East Side neighborhoods of Denver. Barley is the lead pastor and Metzger is serving as the associate pastor. Being sponsored by Ken Caryl Church in Littleton, the Soma team has had the help of Colorado Baptists in Denver as they prayerfully considered where to plant their lives. They have worked hard over the past two years, training for this planting journey. This included building strategic relationships with local and domestic churches, as well as developing a resource base and prayer network.

Barley explains that each member of the Soma team signed on as a missionary. They are moving to Denver, gaining employment of some sort, and becoming rooted in their newfound community. Those who have arrived or plan to move here over the next few months include medical professionals, business entrepreneurs, IT specialists, and social workers. They each bring marketable skills that will contribute towards a better Denver. Read more
