Life Song Church Marks God's Faithfulness with Building Dedication

Erie, Colo.- On June 10, the people of Life Song Church in the quaint, little town of Erie gathered at 470 Briggs Street just as they had for each of their Sunday morning services of the past five years. However, this Sunday was distinct among all other Sundays as Life Song Church could now claim the building as its own.

This day served as a marker, as titled by Pastor Matthew Boardwell, in which their community of believers can look on as a testament to the Lord’s faithfulness.  

Twelve years ago, the Boardwell family moved their lives to Erie in response to the city’s rapid growth and God’s call on their life to start a church. With only three families in their core group and $82.50 to the church’s name, Life Song Church began their journey in the summer of 2000.

 Since then their story has been one of devotion, trust and growth as they have gathered in every kind of meeting place and worked to share the message of the Gospel to whomever they are able in their community. Now on a regular Sunday morning there can be upwards of 80 people worshiping together in their building.

 Filled with testimonies from church members and other partners in the ministry, the dedication service encapsulated much of the amazing ways God has moved in Life Song Church over the last decade.

Impact Rock, another church plant in Erie, also uses the building on 470 Briggs Street for their Saturday night services as they work together to point to Christ in Erie. Mark Harper, lead pastor of Impact Rock, shared what Life Song Church has meant to them over the years in their ministry alongside one another.
 “When we first came to Erie, Matthew told us that they prayed us into this town and that they needed more people pointing to Jesus,” Harper said. “Instead of competition, we were welcomed with love and friendship.”

 The camaraderie between these two churches is built on the common goal not just to build their individual churches, but also to help one another to build God’s Kingdom. In the spirit of unity that was being exercised through this partnership, Boardwell asked the congregation to give a love offering for all other Gospel-preaching churches in Erie as a thank you to the Lord for how He faithfully provides for them.

Members of Life Song shared what the church has meant to them and how God has used it in their lives. Celebratory remarks and notes of encouragement from those who could not be at the dedication were displayed on the wall to be read and rejoiced over. As the service went on, there was a clear message of reminders that the church is the people and the building is where the church meets. “This building is a tool- not a temple,” said Boardwell addressing his congregation.

 This body of common people following an uncommon God, as described by Boardwell, displayed a close-knit sense of community and genuine love for each other. The loving environment has served as an example to Erie and attracted many to become a part of what God is doing through Life Song Church.
