Chaplaincy

Disaster Relief Chaplain Training-July 12-13

Chaplaincy is a specialized ministry to Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. Trained chaplains minister to the spiritual and emotional needs of people in disaster. You will find that the practical skills acquired through this training will open doors of ministry to people in crisis whether it be in a disaster response, in your church or in your community.

About Chaplain Ministry

Chaplaincy ministry is flourishing in Colorado and we desire for you to join us in this unique ministry of reaching and touching others in the name of Christ. Some have described chaplaincy as a means of taking the church into the community and workplace. Currently we have over seventy (70) ministers and laypersons providing chaplaincy ministry in a variety of settings. These include such places as:

Chaplains Manual

The purpose of the attached Chaplains Informational Guide is to familiarize you with the Chaplaincy Ministry among Southern Baptists of Colorado.  In it you will discover information on the types of chaplaincy ministries, how to start a volunteer chaplaincy program as well as opportunities for fellowship and training.

How to get Endorsed for Volunteer Chaplaincy

Chaplains serve in many areas of ministry.  Each institution has its own requirements to qualify for chaplaincy work. Some chaplaincy ministries are filled by only paid workers; others are volunteers.  For additional information regarding endorsement through the Southern Baptists, please visit Chaplaincy at the North American Mission Board.

Attached are the application forms for volunteer chaplains. However, the system may be changing in the next few months. Please email Jan Loser if you have questions.
